Dr. Lerner-Baron is a clinical psychologist (PSY15644) providing therapy in a supportive and respectful environment, to help improve well being and deal with problems effectively. She received her doctoral degree in 1991 from the California School of Professional Psychology and has been licensed by the state of CA since 1998.

Approximately half of Dr. Lerner-Baron’s practice focuses on issues related to the field of special needs including Autism Spectrum Disorders, Asperger’s Disorder, ADHD, and Learning Difference.

The focus is on supporting the family and respecting the individual needs of children. Dr. Lerner-Baron works with couples whose marriages have been impacted by the diagnosis of a child with special needs. She also works with parents on an individual basis, who are experiencing depression, anxiety, stress and other symptoms related to the daily issues of raising their child. She helps parents to identify coping strategies, understand the diagnosis, and assists families in integrating both the challenging and positive experiences they can have raising a child who has special needs.

Dr. Lerner-Baron also works with the typical siblings of children who have disabilities and helps them to cope with the varied emotions and everyday reality they face by having a brother or sister with a special need. In addition to therapy, Dr. Lerner-Baron provides consultation and support at IEP meetings. She assists with writing respectful accommodations and modifications that will allow the child to be successful in the least restrictive environment.

In addition, she educates parents regarding the school maze and offers assistance with sensitivity awareness training when necessary.
